STUROP has uncovered exceptional students that possess the strong desire to develop research skills to implement in their future careers. The inaugural cohort was in Summer 2023 and we are actively seeking the next exceptional group of students who will be the STUROP cohort of Summer 2024! The program uniquely establishes a mentor pair with the scholar’s home institution and UTHSA that forms a triad of mentorship and academic rigor. Scholars will be guided through a longitudinal, 3-year training experience that involves summer research immersion as well as year-round activities designed to develop their scientific interests, orient them to expectations in research settings, introduce the principles of responsible research, and socialize them to the research enterprise in order to prepare them for successful entry to graduate or professional schools. Through the hands-on training and leadership development of STUROP, scholars will be poised to improve Texas communities through educational excellence, scientific discovery, and clinical care.
